In the eye of the hurricane
There is quiet
For just a moment
A yellow sky– Lin-Manuel Miranda
Those are lyrics from a song called “Hurricane” from the hit musical Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The show is one of my favorites, as it is for most fans of musical theater, and the song is a great one. I’m writing this in the eye of a kind of hurricane of my own.
It’s Friday afternoon after a whirlwind of transcribing, scripting, editing, releasing, and promoting the first episode of Artists at Work season 1 yesterday. Tomorrow is our Richmond Forum program with Tina Fey.
Tonight, though, is a moment of rest from the craziness of working a full-time job, while also pursuing projects of my own.
I might work on some of the musical that I’m writing—book, music, and lyrics (take that, Lin).
I might watch more of The Kominsky Method on Netflix, which is hilarious and I just heard that it’s been renewed for a second season, or the new season of Grace and Frankie.
I might read some magazines or one of the books on my growing “To Read” list.
Or, I might just relax and reflect on where my life is right now.
I’ll have more to say next week about all of that, but for now: quiet, for just a moment.
Until next time,
